The general opinion on this camera is that it’s a vast improvement on the previous model in almost every way.
Its compact size belies the superb newly developed 24.3-effective-megapixel quality – higher resolution than most DSLRs in a much smaller body!
And if you’re looking to take action shots, you’ll get up to 11 shots per second.
Its comprehensive video controls and continuous autofocus performance are excellent for a camera in this price range. The autofocus detects contrast and phase and there are 25 autofocus points. Of course there’s face detection and live view.
The viewfinder is very important and on this camera it does not disappoint. The high contrast 1.4M dot Tru-Finder OLED Electronic Viewfinder View is a new optical system that delivers 100% frame coverage. The electronic viewfinder displays what will appear in your recordings – including the effects of your camera settings – so you can fine-tune exposure, color and focus in your preview before you take the picture.
The controls are well-placed and easy to use, and the camera is well-sized for the functionality it offers, but be aware there are no touchscreen controls.
There’s great control when you’re shooting videos, and there’s manual exposure too.
The battery will last for about 420 photos, but if you’re using the power zoom lens it shortens the battery life considerably.

What Other Buyers Think
The camera is very popular (it’s the #1 Bestseller in Mirrorless Cameras) and the vast majority of customers give it a ***** (5 star) rating.
One customer advised that it was sometimes difficult to get full dynamic pictures – but this was easily overcome by using bracketing which is easy to use. The panoramic setting works really well for quick photos of very wide vistas.
Although you can use the camera very simply, there are a huge number of possible controls to really customise what you want. Many customers advise playing around with the camera first to familiarize yourself with all the option before you go off on a special holiday or take wedding photos for example, so your pictures can really shine.
